Successes
Bedfordshire Steam and Country Fayre
Aspen Water branch sold official progammes as well as
having a Tombola stall at this event at the Shuttleworth
Agricultural College on 19th and 20th September.There were
a number of specialised traction engines onshow as well as
many side shows and a fair at the event with about 25,000 attneding
over the weekend as well as 18 Forester volunteers.
£405.20 was raised on the Tombola stall with a payment for
programme selling as yet to be received. All funds raised were for
the Elisabeth Curtis Centre, Riding for the Disabled.
Branch President Les Walker said: 'This is our on-going
annual fundraising event which again proved a great success'.
Black Country Museum
A brilliant day was had at the Black Country Museum in
Dudley on 28th June, by the 33 that attended.
Harry Potter Premiere
A private screening of the new Harry Potter film was shown at
Cineworld, Xscape, Milton Keynes on 18th July. Along with the film
there was also an entertainer dressed as Dumbledor.
156 people attended of which 46 were guests from Keech
Cottage and 110 were Foresters members and their families.
£125 was raised for the Elisabeth Curtis Centre, Riding for the
Disabled.
Branch President, Les Walker said: 'It was good to see so may
local Forester families attending this event as well as being able
to allow our nearest Children's hospice to send a number of their
patients families'.
Donation to All Saints Church, Kempston
All Saints Church Fete took place on Saturday 28 June
raising over £3000. Aspen Water branch gave the church £500
in sponsorship so that the proceeds of the Fete could be dedicated
to the charity. The church magazine printed ‘a huge thank
you’ to the Foresters for their donation. The event was well
attended by many local residents and church goers from the
area.
Donation to Foxgloves Children’s Respite Unit, Bedford
A
donation of £500 was made on behalf of Aspen Water by our Branch
President, Les Walker, to Foxgloves Children’s Respite Unit to
purchase an outdoor trampoline and the relevant safety equipment
for use by children.
Supporting Elisabeth Curtis Riding for the Disabled
In 2007 Aspen Water continued their support for the
Elisabeth Curtis Riding for the Disabled Centre.
Not only did we raise £1,047 through various
fundraising activities last year, but also the Branch also made a
donation of £2,000 to the charity after the center suffered a break
in.
Branch President Les Walker said, “This
generous donation was enough to replace all the specialised riding
equipment that the center needs and also enabled them to update
their security system.”
