Essex Air Ambulance Motorcycle Run & Harwich Family
Festival and Fun Day
Family Fun Day, music, stalls and all day family
entertainment with the arrival or 5,000+ motorcycles at
12pm.
Following last years excellent fund raising
day when in excess of £30000 was raised for the Essex Air
Ambulance, 6 members of Centurion Oak together with 2 grand
children, again volunteered to help at this year’s event with the
collecting buckets, resulting in £304 being collected for the
charity.
David Appleton Branch Treasurer said ‘we had a fantastic day
out. The weather was perfect with a nice cooling breeze. With 5000+
bikers and what appeared to be most of the local residents of
Harwich and Dovercourt,, some 8000+ people had a great time, all
appeared to enjoy the fun and games on the Green. The final total
raised on the day was in excess of £42000, a truly magnificent
achievement and greatly appreciated by the Essex Air Ambulance’
Summer Show - August 2009
A family evening at the theatre, promoting local talent.
Mavis de-Vaux Balbirnie Branch President said’ 50
members and their children enjoyed a great evening out at a local
theatre, an evening of music, song and dance organized and
compared by Angie Diggins (Stars in their Eyes
fame).
Colchester Zoo Family Day out - June 2009
A family day out which was enjoyed by 50 members, children and
friends.
Mavis de-Vaux Balbirnie Branch President said ‘a very
enjoyable day was enjoyed by 50 members, children and friends; the
weather was near perfect, although at times rather to warm for some
of the animals who took no notice of the visitors and preferred to
stay in the shade. By popular demand a return visit was requested
for 2010 (planned for 26thJ une 2010).
Hamilton Lodge Fete and Fun Day - June 2009
A day of fun and games for the residents and friends of Hamilton
Lodge.
Mavis de-Vaux Balbirnie said ‘ A very enjoyable day was
had by both the residents and the many parents and visitors. The
Fete was opened by Bobby George, the local darts player, and as
always was a great success. There were many attractions which
included the Tail Waggers Dog Show, the Di-Vine Line Dancers,
tombola, grand raffle and various other stalls. A grand total of
over £2300 was raised on the day, to be solely for the benefit of
the residents’
Dinner Dance - February 2009
Members enjoyed an evening of dancing with a
great meal and raising funds for the branch charity.
Mavis de-Vaux Balbirnie, Branch President said
,’’A great evening was had by all, with nearly 100 people enjoying
an excellent meal followed by an evening of dancing and a chance to
meet up with old friends. The raffle during the evening raised £239
which will be going to our charity Essex Air Ambulance in due
course.
We were able to present during the evening to our charities of
last year £250 to Hamilton Lodge Trust and £500 to Essex Air
Ambulance from money raised during 2008.
