Charity Success!
Cumbria Branch started the year with the intention of raising
£1,000 for the third year running to help train volunteers for the
RNLI and we and the local RNLI fundraisers have exceeded all
expectations with the following events:
The Song and Dance Extravaganza organised jointly with the
RNLI
Foresters Coconut Shy at the Cumbria Steam Gathering
Race Night
All these events have resulted in
£3224 being raisd for training RNLI volunteers this
year!
A BIG THANK YOU to all those who helped to
support the 'Train One Save Many Campaign'.
RNLI Fundraiser
There was virtually a full house at the RNLI fundraiser on 19th
June held in Barrow, with song and dance from the loal amateur
dramatic groups to riase money for the 'Trian one Save Many' RNLI
appeal.
In excess of 200 people helped to raise over £2,200 for the
RNLI.
Brilliant night of song and dance from a really enthusiastic
group of amateurs. Even the compaire when he realised that the
Branch president cannot hold a tune in a bucket to an ABBA tune did
not spoil the night!
Cumbria presents cheque to train second RNLI volunteer!
The Branch ran
its coconut shy at the Cumbria Steam gathering and through the
publics generosity raised £1,000 which was presented to the local
RNLI branch in support of their 'Train One Serve Many'
campaign.
This is the second year running that the Branch has managed this
and hopefully, with your support we will make it three in a
row!
This will be part of a nationwide Foresters UK campaign in an
attempt to riase enouigh to train 135 crew members to celebrate 135
years of Foresters!
Sunday Lunch
On the 27th January fourteen people ate a
delicious lunch at the Ship Inn, Roose, Barrow in Furness.
Everyone enjoyed the lively conversation and
they all agreed it was a meal to be remembered for a very long time
to come.
