Welcome to Members of Drake Branch.
After the devastating earthquake hit Haiti,
at our January branch meeting the question was raised, could we as
a Branch in some way help these unfortunate people. Knowing the
great work being done by the Helston based charity ShelterBox it
was proposed and agreed that we donate £500.
This is enough for one complete box, which
contains sufficient emergency equipment (a tent and other
essentials to support up to ten people) with a little towards a
second box. Our donation went to box number 46291 and 46423, both
were dispatched on 30th March to Port-au-Prince, Haiti
and will now be helping to provide cover and assistance to those
unfortunate people. They will know that Foresters Drake Branch have
tried in some way to help.
The Branch sends its congratulation to Joy
Prowse. Joy is the winner of Brixham’s first ever Civic Award. For
over 60 years Joy has been involved with the Girl Guide movement.
At the age of seven she joined the First Cockington Brownies, at 17
she became pack leader. She moved to Brixham in 1970 where she
formed a new Brownie pack, which she ran for more than 30 years.
During this time she was also District Commissioner for Brixham, As
a Forester Joy has helped at various branch social events and was a
Branch Officer for six years. Congratulations Joy and well
done.
