Yorkshire Dales Weekend with National Holidays
- 22 to 23 May 2010
A fantastic weekend was had by all who
attended. We had some fantastic Summer weather and were able to
enjoy the scenery of the Yorkshire Dales.
The first point of call on this trip was the
canal at Skipton where we enjoyed a trip in a canal boat.
We then had some free time to look around
Skipton and I had a short walk through the woods. Others looked at
the Market and the shops. Most of us had a picnic and enjoyed the
beautiful weather.
From Skipton we headed to our hotel which
boasted a sauna, steam room, jacuzzi and swimming pool, which I
made sure I got to use before Dinner.
The 4 course dinner was delicious and many
people have commented to me on how impressed they were.
The following day we visited Bolton Abbey via
a slightly unusual route through a field past the sheep and a large
white Bull!
The Abbey has fantastic architecture, grounds
and stepping stones. Then we had a trip on a steam train from
Embsay railway and visited some more of the Yorkshire dales.
This was fantastic value for money and a thoroughly enjoyable
trip. Watch out for the next one!
Family Bowling, Hollywood Bowl - 10
April 2010
This was a fun morning where we had two games of bowling
each.
There was some competition between individuals and teams to get
the best scores but mainly we just had fun!
Spring Dinner Dance - 27 March 2010
In March we held our Annual Dinner dance at
the Cottingham Golf and Leisure club.
44 people attended and enjoyed a delicious 4
course meal, were entertained by Martin Peters band, had fun with
the whizzing balloons, danced, had a raffle to fundraise for St
Andrews hospice and some people went home with prizes!
I presented a cheque to our Guest Bob Smails
who was representing Yorkshire Air Ambulance. Bob gave a short
speech on what the Yorkshire Air Ambulance does. £905 was raised
from charity collections and fundraising throughout the year. Bob
informed us that this is the equivalent amount required to save two
lives.
This was an enjoyable occasion and we raised £81 for our current
Charity St Andrews Hospice.
