Welcome to Members of Isis
The January snow looked pretty on the photos
but it did cause a few problems to those who had to go about their
daily tasks. In January I was re-elected to be your President
for the next two years and will do my best to continue to support
members of the Branch.
We have a varied programme planned for the
coming year and look forward to seeing old friends but hope that we
will encourage some of our members, who may not have joined us
before, to come along. Events for 2010 include a garden show,
the theatre, Beaulieu, Slimbridge, a barn dance and Christmas
Lunch. As well as our Branch events, the Regional Council
also arrange holidays, both at home and abroad and these are always
reasonably priced and great fun.
In 2009 we raised £1,200 for our charity, Home
Start Oxford and in 2010 we are supporting Maggie’s Cancer Care
Oxford who is raising money to build new premises on the Churchill
Hospital site next to the Cancer Caring Centre. This charity
gives support to cancer patients and their families. If you
feel you can assist us with the fundraising, please do not hesitate
to contact us. Maybe you could have a Coffee Morning or a
Bring and Buy sale in your local area – every little helps as it
mounts up during the year. Any unwanted presents are always
welcome for raffle prizes. We are looking for volunteers to
help with the car parking at the Oxford Motor Show on 26
June. Please contact me if you feel you can give us a hand on
the day.
