Bryan Cannon 11.02.1936 –
14.10.2009
It is with great sadness that we inform you of the death of
one of our longest serving officers, Bryan Cannon, who joined the
Foresters in 1961 and after helping at several events he became a
Woodward (visiting the sick) in 1962.
Bryan made many visits in those days, far more than there are
today. He enjoyed the various positions he held, but would
never take on the position of Chief Ranger but preferring to stay
in the background. He and his wife, Maureen, and children,
Hugh and Marina, always took part in the various charity events,
walks, sales, collections, etc.
Bryan did not enjoy good health but this did not stop him taking
part in many of the events. Many of you will remember Bryan
attending dances and enjoying coach outings to various events, as
well as spending many hours behind a stall at the Lord Mayor’s
Parade selling items for the Branch’s charity.
He talked often of the funny happenings like camping at
Hambleden in a tent where you could lie and look at the stars, or
looking after and cooking for the Logue boys and Hugh when they
canoed from Lechlade to Reading for charity.
Bryan and Maureen have many happy memories of their association
with the Foresters and have made lots of friends. Bryan was pleased
when Marina became Charity Chairman carrying on the tradition and
bringing her four children to functions and doing fundraising like
he did.
Bryan is greatly missed by us all.
