Charity 2009
On the 17th January we had a very enjoyable
lunch at Wellow Golf Club and presented a cheque to the Hampshire
and IOW Air Ambulance for £2907.91 made up in donations, raffles
and store collections throughout the year.
Then after the meal Barry Lipscombe, Chairman
of the HIOWAA gave a very interesting talk about the work they
do. He also said that they are expecting a new helicopter
sometime this year which would allow them to do more flights at
night and in bad weather conditions. He then went on to
inform us that the Air Ambulance is funded solely by donations and
not funded at all by the Government.
A further cheque for £500 to the Children’s
Miracle Network was presented Bernard Bloom. Along with other
Foresters he walked up Ben Nevis in May 2009 and asked that the
sponsorship money he raised be divided between the Air Ambulance
and CMN.
