Successes
January and February Sunday Lunches
These lunches were held at The
Price of Wales Hotel in Southport and a total of 75 people
raised £273, again for our 2010 charities.
Christmas Sunday Lunch 13 December 2009
At this very popular event 88
members and friends made this a wonderful occasion at the Prince of
Wales Hotel, Southport. Our Branch President presented 2 cheques to
our 2009 chosen charities, The Sandfield Park School for Special
Needs Children received £1,000 and The Garden of Eden (Lily
Centre) £500. A tombola and raffle raised £400, a
fantastic start to our 2010 fundraising.
Turkey and Tinsel
31 members, family and friends
joined together on our annual Turkey & Tinsel over the weekend
of 15 November at the Manhatton Hotel, Blackpool.
In total a fantastic sum of £73
was raised on our raffle which we had after our Sunday Lunch.
This weekend is yet another one of
those in which both our members and friends seem to enjoy with good
food good entertainment and even better company.
Dinner Dance
This event held in May 2009 raised in total
£167 with a raffle and tombola. This was our first dinner
dance of the year at the Prince of Wales hotel 58 people enjoyed
good wine good food and 45 of them stayed over night at the
hotel.
Family Sunday Lunch
On the 11th January a raffle and tombola raised a huge
total of £232.00 at the family Sunday lunch to welcome the new
Branch President, Roy Nickson. The Branch President quoted this as
being a fantastic sum of money raised thus being just after
Christmas and New Year
Sunday Lunch
53 members attended the lunch in February. There was a raffle
with lots of prizes up for grabs and a grand total of £173 was
raised in aid of the Garden of Eden (Lily Centre) and cystic
fibrosis. Yet another fantastic sum of money raised at one of our
functions.
Blackpool Weekend at the Manhatten Hotel
This event in March was as popular as ever, the Manhatten Hotel
having welcomed us for a number of years. This is a very popular
function in the spring and late Autumn, with excellent food and
very reasonably priced.
