Successes
Easter Road Can Collection – 15 November
2008
On 15 November, 10 volunteers kindly took
part in the can collection held on Easter Road in
Edinburgh, raising £862.08 for St Columba’s
Hospice.
Margaret Farquhar wishes to thank all the
collectors who braved the cold winds at Easter Road to this
wonderful sum for St Columba’s Hospice. Also a big thank
you to Mr and Mrs Monro for the generous £10 donation received at
the Lady Victoria Ghost Tour.
Fun Run
On 21st September
2008, 130 runners, supported by family and friends, took part in a
Fun Run in aid of St Columbas Hospice.
Forester members James Cunningham, Andrew McHale, Margaret
Farquhar and Tricia Yates raised £358 in sponsorship!
Over £3,500 has been raised from this event so far, with more
sponsorship monies to come. All funds raised will benefit St
Columbas Hopsice
Angela McHale who
raised £109 on the tombola said: 'It was a most rewarding and
enjoyable day. Everyone had a lot of fun and it was great to be
part of such a worthwhile cause'.
Coach Trip
Foresters members enjoyed the weekend coach trip to
Pilochry Hydro on 10th October 2008.
Blair Drummond
On 26 July
Scotia Branch members enjoyed a family day out at Blair Drummond
Safari Park. It was a lovely warm day, with lots to see and
do – the Sea Lion Show and Birds of Prey thrilled most of our party
and the children especially enjoyed the play park.
Gala Tombolas
Our tombola stalls raised
£327 at Mayfield Gala on 7 June and £375 at Newtongrange
on 14 June. Margaret Farquhar and Angela McHale were
delighted with the grand total of £702 raised at these local
events. Thank you to everyone who donated items for the
stalls.
