Successes
“Concert in the Park” in aid of our Charity, Haven House
Children’s Hospice - 24 July 2010
Over a hundred people joined us at The White
House, Mallinson Park, Woodford Green, Essex from 11.00am till
8.30pm.
Various bands playing during the day while
people picnicked. We even had an “Elvis”.
At 6.00pm Joan Stevens presented, on
stage, two Forester Scholarships. One to Abigail Leighton, going to
Keeble College Oxford with 3 A's to study Biology Sciences,
and one to Evadene Ocran, going to Kingston, to study Law.
They came to the event with their parents and
siblings.
All together Haven House Raised £2,600. Silver
Birch sold Second hand Toys Sycamore Branch sold ‘as good as new’
items.
Joan Stevens, President of Silver Birch, said she was honoured,
on behalf of the Foresters to present the Scholarship girls with
their Certificates, and on behalf of the Branch wished the girls
well in the future, and that we look forward to receiving news from
them from time to time. Christopher Slaney, last years Scholarship
recipient sends his best wishes to us all, and said he has enjoyed
his first year at University.
We had two celebrities there during the day, Vikki Michelle from
‘allo, allo ,and Michael McKell, late of ‘Doctors, currently
staring in Emmerdale as a Detective.

A trip around London, near
the London Eye in an Amphibious Vehicle, on land and on the River
Thames
The stories of London told to us by the
Lighterman Tour Guide, He even had us singing!
Great Event, we were so lucky with the
weather. Was pleased everyone enjoyed the trip and that we had a
full bus, the boys even received high fives for answering some of
the questions, said Barbara Peck, Social Secretary.
"Light up a Life" For Haven House Children's Hospice -
Various Dates in December 2009
Over 70 attended the Lighting of the Tree event, and
lit candles for loved ones in the grounds of the Hospice.
Four members from the Branch attended, to raise money in
rememberance of Loved Ones who are no longer with us.
Lighting a Tree in the Grounds of the Hospice, and having it lit
for a month. The President Don Stevens lit a candle in
remembrance of Members of “Silver Birch”.
Silver Birch Sponsored the Event by giving (with the help of
Head Office) £2000 towards funding the Christmas appeal, and
keeping the Tree alight. £6,000 was raised for Haven House.
Penny Sturdy, Community Fundraiser said ”We are again indebted
to Silver Birch Branch of The Foresters for all their help”.
Poppy Appeal "The Royal British Legion" - November
2009
The Branch want to say thank you
very much to Mike Hiron, Joan and Don Stevens, and most of all Joan
Riches for all their efforts, raising money for The Royal British
Legion in November 2009 in Chingford, Enfield and Wanstead.
A Grand Total of: £1,865.50 was raised.
