Welcome to Members of Solent.
This is the February update to the branch web
page and I am pleased to be your new President for 2009/2010. I was
waiting in the wings, being branch secretary for twenty years or
so. The new slate of officers were installed on 31st
January and if you weren’t there you missed a treat. The high spot
was the presentation of a cheque for over £5700 to Macmillan Cancer
Support, our 2008 charity.
With your help we can raise a similar sum for
the Air Ambulance charity this year. We are collecting at several
local supermarkets in the area over the coming few months and if

Please look at the ‘Branch
Contacts’ where you will see a few new names. My thanks go to
all the retiring officers, especially Roy Brown, who despite
ill-health, led the branch for the past two years.
You will see that we have arranged a variety
of events for the coming year and we hope to see some new faces as
well as our regulars at some of them. You are assured of a warm
welcome.
If our events are not your cup of tea, send an
email telling us why and give us any suggestions for branch events
that you think would be popular. If there is something you would
like to do, or even organise with our help. Please let us know.
Finally, if you raise money for charity, why
not this year do it through the branch?
