Successes
Cotswold Wildlife Park and Gardens
On Sunday 8 June 2008, we met the Coach at Woodford Green and
Gants Hill Library for our trip to Cotswold Wildlife Park and
Gardens. We had a good run through, one quick stop and then
on for our day out, we got there at 10.30am and were asked to
be back at the coach by 5pm.
It was a beautiful day, lots of sun and the park and gardens
looked beautiful, lots of animals to look at including several baby
animals too. The children enjoyed the monkeys as they played
with their babies and swung through the trees, you had a very clear
view of all the animals which made it easier for the children to
see them.
We were also allowed to stroke and touch a snake, most people
expect the snake to be horrible to touch, but it was lovely and
smooth and did not seem to mind how many people touched or stroked
it.
We were all back to the coach on time and everybody agreed it
had been a good day out. Welcome to the new members who had
not been with us before, we hope they will come
again. Our thanks to Rita and David Howell for all their
hard work in arranging this event.
Disco Dance & Buffet
90 people attended the
disco dance and buffet on 26th January at Fords Sports & Social
Club, Newbury park, Ilford and we managed to raise £141 plus we
received a £10 donation for charity. There was good music, good
food and a good floor for dancing.
“We had a very good evening. Nice to see
so many people come and enjoy themselves”, commented Jean
Higgins.
The disco was very good and Ricky played lots
of different music that people could listen to or dance to if they
so wished. The buffet was really tasty and there was plenty
for everybody.”
