Coach Outing - 16 May 2010
A party of 35 Members and Friends of Sycamore
Branch set off on Sunday 16 May 2010 on our first outing of the
year.
We visited Bicester Shopping Village for some
retail therapy and then we were on our way to Blenheim Palace,
where Winston Churchill was born.
There was so much to see there that we would
have had a longer time if only the rain, badly needed by all our
gardens, hadn’t decided to arrive that afternoon.
We arrived home around 8.00pm tired but having
had a very enjoyable day.
Spring Dance - 20 March 2010
On Saturday 20 March 2010, Sycamore Branch
held a Spring Dance with Buffet Supper at Fords Sports and Social
Club.
Although the number attending was low (only
36), which we understand was largely due to another Branch holding
a function on the same date, it was a most enjoyable evening, Denny
Austin provided music and song for us and the dancers appreciated
having plenty of room on the floor.
The buffet was most appetising and plentiful;
and the raffle raised £53.00 for our Charities, so
here’s to next time.
We would love to see more members attending these and other
events.
50th Anniversary Dinner Dance
On 7th November, 90 Foresters and guests celebrated Sycamore
Branch reaching its 50th Anniversary at the Metropolitan Police
Chigwell Sports Club with a Dinner Dance.
We had an excellent meal and it was followed by music and
singing by Denny Austin, he gave us a good evening.
We were very pleased to get lots of good reports from people who
had a very good evening and enjoyed themselves.
Pantomime
On 28th December, Christmas Bank Holiday Monday, a group of
Sycamore branch members and their families went to see
Snow White at the Kenneth More Theatre in Ilford which was an
excellent production.
The show was first rate, the costumes can only be described as
dazzling and the rapport between performers and the audience was
superb. The children raised the roof with their cheering (and
jeering) and a lot of 'look behind you' and 'Oh no he didn't'.
A very good time was had by all!
