Regional Charities 2005-2008

 

FireworksThe total amount raised for charity over the past 4 years by the WEW Regional Council and all the Branches in our area was a staggering £1.27 Million!  Our hearty thanks go to all who have helped raise this terrific amount.  A cheque was presented at the Regional Council Ball in Bournemouth to the representatives of the five children’s hospices in our area for £523,000 after thanking us they said what a fantastic sum we had raised and they hoped our partnership would continue for many years to come.

 

 


 

Regional Council Ball

 

Dancing couple (pink dress)The WEW Regional Council Ball took place at the Carrington House Hotel in Bournemouth on 4 October 2009.  Once again it was a superb evening, well attended by over 250 members and their guests who enjoyed an excellent dinner followed by dancing.  All the representatives of the Hospices who received our charity cheque for funds raised over the last four years said how much they appreciated our hospitality and what a splendid night they had all had.

 

 

 


 

Regional Council Bowls Tournament

 

Rosemary, Martin and AllisonOver 40 members enjoyed the RC Bowls Tournament, Green Rink Bowling, on 31st August at Banister Park Bowls Club, Eastleigh, Southampton.

 

The Pairs Trophy was won by the Regional Council President, Rosemary Jasper and Allison Coward of Solent, who also won the Ladies Appreciation Trophy.

 

The Singles Trophy was won by Dennis Fuller of Knightwood oak, playing his first game with a new hip! The Triples Trophy was won by Mendip - a team comprised of Reg Chalker, Enid Price and Jenny Wilkins.

 

Organiser Martin Coward said: 'The event went well and was enjoyed by all who played and also watched'.
