Wine Circle BBQ

Wey Valley Wine Circle BBQDespite the terrible summer, 18 Wine Circle members enjoyed a BBQ in Peter & Christine White’s lovely garden on 11 July, though the lady members took their food into the lounge, the men ate theirs under a gazebo, and a good time was had by all.

The Bourne Show

Back in the summer on one of the few hot Saturday’ the charity committee set up a stall to raise money for the Guilford branch of Breathe Easy which offers help and support for those suffering from asthma and lung diseases. It was a beautiful day and attracted a great number of families from the areas surrounding Farnham.  Over £200 was raised on a prize every time game aimed at the Children.

The Nine Bridges Sponsored Walk and Cricket Match at the Oval

This event was in aid of Chase Children’s Hospice based in Guildford.  People were sponsored to walk over nine of the bridges over the river Thames ending at the Oval Cricket ground where they were then able to enjoy watching the cricket.

Members from Wey Valley helped by acting as marshals and selling draw tickets.  Over £18,500 has been raised so far although Chase are still waiting for some more money to be handed in.  “The only trouble was I didn’t get enough time to watch the match, they kept wanting draw tickets and I had to keep folding the stubs”, was a comment heard from one of the male helpers.
