Successes

Scholarship Awards

We were fortunate to have two Scholarships this year and were delighted to meet students Aisleen Merrett and Rose Sargeant and their parents.  The presentation of their framed certificates by our President, Peter White, took place at our monthly meetings.

Both students said how delighted they were to receive the awards and how much this would help them in their field and course work.

Boat Trip on the River Thames – 6 August 2010

We had a lovely sunny day, just right for our picnic lunch on the boat followed by a leisurely afternoon going past Hampton Court and up to Kingston Bridge and back. The scenery was interesting. It was very enjoyable and a great way to unwind.

The highlight of the event was meeting several new inactive members.

Trip to Turkey - June 2010

Turkey 1 Turkey 3

Several members of Wey Valley Branch joined the Regional Council holiday to Turkey in June 2010.  We stayed in a great 4* hotel in Gumuldur. The food was excellent & the weather very good after the first couple of days when it was cloudy. We visited some markets & took a boat trip along the coast where a pair of intrepid swimmers went into the water off the gang plank. It was good to relax & enjoy a drink with other Foresters.

Farnborough Donkey Derby

Coke and Candy Stall

Wey Valley had a Coke & Candy Stall at Farnborough Donkey Derby on 31st May 2010. The event attracted over 5,000 people with the highlight of the day being the donkey races.

Fortunately it didn’t rain this year, ‘though it was dull, windy & cold most of the time, but there was a really good turnout, and our 10 members were kept busy selling £1 tickets for non alcoholic drinks & sweets.

One lady asked us to sell her a large bottle of lemonade to use as champagne for her winning 5 A Side boys footballers! We obliged and watched their fun & photos being taken in front of our stall. The lemonade worked well!

We made the magnificent sum of £334.00
