Successes
Wine Circle BBQ
Despite the terrible summer, 18 Wine Circle members enjoyed
a BBQ in Peter & Christine White’s lovely garden on 11 July,
though the lady members took their food into the lounge, the men
ate theirs under a gazebo, and a good time was had by all.

The Bourne Show
Back in the summer on one of the few hot
Saturday’ the charity committee set up a stall to raise money for
the Guilford branch of Breathe Easy which offers help and support
for those suffering from asthma and lung diseases. It was a
beautiful day and attracted a great number of families from the
areas surrounding Farnham. Over £200 was raised on a prize
every time game aimed at the Children.
The Nine Bridges Sponsored Walk and Cricket Match at the
Oval
This event was in aid of Chase Children’s
Hospice based in Guildford. People were sponsored to walk
over nine of the bridges over the river Thames ending at the Oval
Cricket ground where they were then able to enjoy watching the
cricket.
Members from Wey Valley helped by acting as
marshals and selling draw tickets. Over £18,500 has been
raised so far although Chase are still waiting for some more money
to be handed in. “The only trouble was I didn’t get enough
time to watch the match, they kept wanting draw tickets and I had
to keep folding the stubs”, was a comment heard from one of the
male helpers.

Foundation.
Valentine Buffet Dance
There was a very
good turn out for our first event of 2008 at Addlestone Community
Centre on 15th February.
After a very nice buffet, members & friends enjoyed dancing
to ‘Harmonic Zone’ until midnight.
Janet Steeples, President, introduced our recently elected
officers & committee members who will be running the Branch for
the next 2 years & organising social & charitable events
for your enjoyment and participation, which we hope you will
enjoy.

Skittles
About 40 members
attended an exciting evening on 4 April at Rounces Farm with play
offs for some of the titles. Four teams named after suits of
playing cards fought to win. The sausage, mash & onion
gravy with puddings was enjoyed by all. The cricket game was
won by Chris White who donated her prize money to the Branch’s
Charity.
Brian Blamey ended the evening having the
highest score and was awarded the Tony Keirley trophy (see photo on
right).
